Do you have an OAR in the ever-changing real estate waters?
Boats need an OAR in the water to get to their destination. Sometimes the water is smooth and often it is choppy-you never know what you are going to encounter. You may not see the undercurrent. Rapids or other potential derailers until it is too late. Experienced boaters are always prepared before they enter the water.
Are you prepared to enter the ever-changing real estate market? Do you have an OAR?
O=Organization
A=Accountability
R=Results
Organization: Are you prepared to know the path you are taking? Where the smooth or choppy waters are? How to get to your destination? Do you manage your day, or does it manage you?
The most important thing you can do is organize your day. Time blocking is a best practice. It is also fluid and flexible. Don’t think of it as a restriction, more like guardrails to keep you on track. It helps you stay committed to critical activities and avoid non-critical activities like watching kitten videos!
Your top 3 time blocking activities should be:
1. Client outreach, appointment setting, lead nurturing. Good old fashioned cold calling. Most of your day (at minimum, 70% of your day should be spent contacting clients, prospective clients and building your sphere).
2. Your CRM is your road map to success. Building and maintaining your CRM is critical to knowing where you are and where you want to be. It captures your client outreach and builds your sphere. Don’t have a CRM? Don’t panic. Create one that works for you. Paper, Excel, Coldwell Banker provided. Your CRM is a key component to organizing your day and growing your business.
3. Know your value-take time for making you a subject matter expert in real estate. Education, training, networking with other agents not only helps you personally grow, but professionally knowing your value sets you apart from your competition.
Accountability: Are you showing up and making things happen? How much time do you spend reaching out to your client base? Updating your CRM? Office hours? Open houses? Sitting desk? Do you meet deadlines? Are you known for your attention to detail and reliability?
Accountability is something we all need and most of us don’t like. Who likes to be reminded they didn’t do what they said they would? Conversely, who doesn’t like it when they get a phone call, text or email that says great job?! Having someone who understands you and will be your accountability partner is important especially when you are stuck and don’t know how to move forward.
Results: Results are a motivator and demotivator, You are rally motivated when your numbers and income are great-but when the numbers and income aren’t where they should be, human nature is to quit, make excuses or do nothing.
If you Organize and hold yourself Accountable-the Results will come!
